Visual Design Project PART B

PART B: VISUAL HIERARCHY: TEXT, VISUAL AND LAYOUT

  Choose/create a piece of text – a story, a text or a feature report - based on the 5 elements.
Illustrate two key frames for this text and explore different color palettes for the same illustrations to enhance/emphasize the message.
Combine the text and the visual to create a handout for the story/poem/feature. Experiment with visual hierarchy by changing typographic and visual/color variables to bring clarity, interest and variety to the printed message.

The element that is being worked over is “SPACE”.
The piece chosen is all about the different space all together that is being created by his conscious and the elements and creatures that exists within have been placed within to explain the simple reality of life & how one could interpret the space that is often ignored , which lies within self to be discovered & explored.

ITHACA

When you set out on your journey to Ithaca,
pray that the road is long,
full of adventure, full of knowledge.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the angry Poseidon -- do not fear them:
You will never find such as these on your path,
if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine
emotion touches your spirit and your body.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter,
if you do not carry them within your soul,
if your soul does not set them up before you.

Pray that the road is long.
That the summer mornings are many, when,
with such pleasure, with such joy
you will enter ports seen for the first time;
stop at Phoenician markets,
and purchase fine merchandise,
mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
and sensual perfumes of all kinds,
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
visit many Egyptian cities,
to learn and learn from scholars.

Always keep Ithaca in your mind.
To arrive there is your ultimate goal.
But do not hurry the voyage at all.
It is better to let it last for many years;
and to anchor at the island when you are old,
rich with all you have gained on the way,
not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.

Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage.
Without her you would have never set out on the road.
She has nothing more to give you.

And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not deceived you.
Wise as you have become, with so much experience,
you must already have understood what Ithacas mean.

The character itself has been designed by mapping up the attributes of
 distinct characters that exists in the prose, interpreting further its
evolution throughout the journey.

At the end of the Journey.

THE LITTLE ROCK ON MARS

The story is all about a little rock and its adventure. The little rock had fallen down the mountain and rolled into a mushy river bit by bit, as the Wind blew, and when the ground sometimes trembled. So it left the mountain, and that was a sad time for the little rock.
Until one day, when it rolled into a mushy riverbed! Ooooh, the cool mud felt so good! It couldn't see the sunset, but the little rock loved the cushy spot it could roll around in.
One day water rushed over Little Rock and it felt so smooth and refreshing. It made the rock tumble along, like the wind did.
But while the Wind sometimes blew sand on the rock when it pushed it, the Water caressed the little rock and soothed its rough edges, as it gently nudged it along. Little Rock loved the water and was happy again.
Time passed, many many years and tens of years and hundreds and then thousands of years.
The Water became less and less, the mud felt dryer and dryer, and Little Rock was less and less happy. Then one day the rock realized that the water hadn't come to push him and cool him in many many years. Where did the water go?
Little Rock just lay there, and could only feel the wind push him every once in a while.
Tens and hundreds and thousands of years rolled by and Little Rock just lay there, wondering what would happen next.
One day an incredible thing happened when the little rock was lying down and looking into the sky suddenly one of the lights started getting brighter and it was all headed right towards the little rock ,the little rock got scared the sky ball might hit him and destroy him. The ball hit the ground with a great bounce and emitted light it opened up into a bid floppy egg with four legs, big rollers, a pointed nose with a big melt hand popping of the head that could catch the rock. It seemed a like an animal to the little rock. The little rock called it Rover. The Rover went around and around ,over, up and down, then suddenly it picked up the little rock upside down this further scared the little rock ,he could not understand who rover was and if he had come there to destroy him. After that the Rover poked him and the other rocks as well. The Rover had explored the planet. The little rock finally decided to say something to Rover. He said: hey, hey you big thing, who are you and what are you doing here?
The Rover said “I have come to your planet for a mission and I have come from the planet Earth “. Now was the time when he declared that he was a space shuttle and had come to mars to see if there is a possibility of life.
The little rock and Rover had lots of fun learning new things about each others planet for a long time.
